More than $25,000 in donations helping Oregon families through the American Red Cross

GE Appliances (GEA), a Haier company, is joining with independent retailers in Oregon to donate more than $25,000 to the Oregon Wildfire Disaster Relief Fund. The partnership between GEA and the local retailers supports the American Red Cross, which is working directly with Oregon families to provide shelter, emergency supplies, financial assistance and recovery planning.

“Caring for our employees, customers and communities is a big part of who we are and what we do,” said Kevin Nolan, president and CEO of GE Appliances. “In addition to our sales and service teams in Oregon, we have customers living and working in these hard-hit areas. These are people who help make us who we are, and we want to help support the agencies that are helping them recover from these devastating fires.”

For years, GEA has partnered with the American Red Cross for disaster response assistance, launching online donation portals for GEA employee contributions and a company financial match. Now GEA is expanding its response to include partnerships with local retail partners to further benefit the communities it serves.

GEA was joined in this effort by Oregon retailers, which include DeWhitt Appliance in Portland, Kelly’s Home Center in Salem, and West Coast Appliance in Central Point.

“I’m happy to work for a company that supports the disaster relief efforts in our community,” said Josh Malcom, Oregon-based senior area sales manager, GE Appliances. “The families impacted are our friends and families and we are here to help put their lives and homes back together.”
