The Commercial Development Program (CDP) is a 2.5 year journey based in Louisville, KY, designed for early-career talent eager to invest in themselves and take on meaningful work from day one.
Through three immersive rotations in Retail, Contract, and our Cross Commercial Experience (CCE), you will build essential sales and business skills, deepen your market knowledge, and gain the confidence to lead in a fast-paced and competitive environment.

Three Commercial Rotations. One Launchpad for Sales Careers

Retail

Lay the groundwork for a successful sales career during your Retail rotation. Gain hands-on experience calling on both Independent and National accounts while learning core product features, GE Appliances systems, and effective territory management. This rotation builds a strong foundation in communication, relationship building, and negotiation, all essential skills for driving impact in any sales role.

Contract

Build on the foundation from your Retail rotation with hands-on exposure across all Contract (builder) channels—including distributors, national single-family builders, and large multi-family projects. You’ll deepen your market knowledge, sharpen your sales skills, and learn the systems that power our contract business, preparing you for high-impact roles across the organization.

Cross Commercial Experience

The CCE is the capstone of our program, offering a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of the business by joining a headquarters team in Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, or another key function. You’ll work side-by-side with experienced leaders to develop real-world solutions, build meaningful connections, and gain critical insights equipping you for success as you prepare to transition into a Field Area Sales Manager role.

Vibrant, inclusive celebrations

Of course, Louisville is already known for Louisville Slugger, horse racing, and Bourbon, but there’s much more to see and do. Louisville’s vibrant celebrations, including the renowned Kentucky Derby, contribute to the city’s allure and sense of community. Louisville hosts a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, catering to diverse interests and ensuring there’s something for everyone on the city’s calendar.  

Great access for travel

Louisville sits at the junction of several major roads that put about 50% of the US population within an eight-hour drive. Our international airport offers myriad options too. That’s assuming you want to leave Kentucky, with its amazing network of state and national parks! 

Unique art & culture

Several arts and music festivals occur throughout the year in Louisville. Locals particularly love the indie music and foodie scene. Louisville has a great international community with annual ethnic festivals and restaurants. The Urban Bourbon Trail represents many of the city’s bars and restaurants. You can see a wide range of architecture throughout the city. Several art and history museums are also in Louisville.  GE Appliances also sponsors our professional soccer teams, Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville!

The Air & Water Commercial Development Program (A&W CDP) is a dedicated track for those interested in GE Appliances’ rapidly growing Air & Water business. This new program offers hands-on experience through Air & Water-specific rotations where program members will build deep expertise in the category, developing into future leaders of our Air&Water salesforce!
