More Program Benefits

All technical, all the time.

AEDP is a 2-year program where you are a full-time employee receiving industry-leading development and training while rotating between product design and manufacturing roles. Gain broad experience then pick your path in either product design or manufacturing upon graduation. It’s the best of both technical worlds.

We help you discover yourself.

The rotation-based program provides a broad range of work experiences in multiple product lines and organizations to help you learn broadly and deeply. We will help you find your passion as you navigate how products are designed and manufactured beginning to end. Not sure which way you want your career to go? Don’t worry. We’ll help.

We will help you get connected.

As one of several development programs at GE Appliances, you’ll be connected to young talent across the entire business. You’ll gain exposure to leaders in multiple product lines and business functions. Leadership seminars, included in the program, provide incredible opportunities for connecting with other development programs and leaders across the entire business. All of this happens in a tight-knit community of people, so you’ll never be alone on the journey. We also have a wide array of employee resource groups to help you connect with more employees and community organizations across the city.

Living In A Great City

Vibrant, inclusive celebrations

Of course, Louisville is already known for Louisville Slugger, horse racing, and Bourbon, but there’s much more to see and do. Louisville’s vibrant celebrations, including the renowned Kentucky Derby, contribute to the city’s allure and sense of community. Louisville hosts a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, catering to diverse interests and ensuring there’s something for everyone on the city’s calendar.

Great access for travel

Louisville sits at the junction of several major roads that put about 50% of the US population within an eight-hour drive. Our international airport offers myriad options too. That’s assuming you want to leave Kentucky, with its amazing network of state and national parks!

Arts & culture

Several arts and music festivals occur throughout the year in Louisville. Locals particularly love the indie music and foodie scene. Louisville has a great international community with annual ethnic festivals and restaurants. The Urban Bourbon Trail represents many of the city’s bars and restaurants. You can see a wide range of architecture throughout the city. Several art and history museums are also in Louisville.  GE Appliances also sponsors our professional soccer teams, Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville!

Outdoor activities

The Olmstead Parks in Louisville were designed by the same person who is known for Central Park in New York, the U.S. Capitol Grounds, and the Biltmore Estate. Include The Parklands of Floyds Fork and the rest of Louisville Metro Parks and you have hundreds of miles of trails and thousands of acres of parks for your adventures. And that’s just in Louisville! Kentucky is known for its amazing state parks too. There are endless opportunities for just about any outdoor sport!

A Rich History

The Edison Engineering Development Program was established by General Electric in 1923 and was started at GE Appliances in 1975, named after Thomas Edison. In that same spirit of world class technical talent development, the Applied Engineering Development Program was born at GE Appliances. You know you’ve found a strong engineer when you find a graduate of one of our development programs. Development program members are highly respected team members and are heavily sought after. Always have been. The long history of success is evident in how you see development program members across our business at all levels.
